Character matters; leadership descends from character. — Rush Limbaugh

Enhanced Learning Program was conducted for the first class cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), led by former Captain Gerardo Gambala, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Marilag Class of 1995; however, he was honorably discharged. As someone as great as Gerardo Gambala's notable public figure, he formally held a seminar for us to impart his experiences and knowledge. This Enhanced Learning Program aims to improve our leadership skills by sharing our guest speaker's first-hand experiences. Moreover, this program strengthens our knowledge, character, and abilities.

"Learn one thing that will impact your life for the better" is the quote where our guest speaker started. Indeed, not all the knowledge he will share will be absorbed by us, but at least get one you can hold on to for self-improvement. The program has taught us that the body's essential elements, such as the head for knowledge, the heart for a character, and the hands for skills, all have deeper meanings.

As a future public officer, one must acquire proficiency to be technically and tactically proficient. Thus, making him credible and competent enough in his line of work. A good and efficient public officer could not be a key figure if he didn't go through hardships, trials, and sleepless nights to become eligible by not stopping learning through studying and taking examinations. Then, an excellent public officer must possess the character to weigh right and wrong and good and evil.

An excellent public figure with a high emotional quotient tends to have a better leadership style than those without, for he influences his subordinates in a well-mannered approach, making them respected and loved. Hence, it will make your people perform better because you earn their trust.

Lastly, as a future public officer, you must obtain the necessary skills to lead, and that's why we enter the prestigious academy, PNPA, to be honed to become a capable, competent leader that everyone can be proud of. With this, we can build and establish the values which our principles rely on.

Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, make another choice.[1] As future public officers, we must not be afraid to take risks if it's for the better. As discussed in our seminar, life is defined by letters B to D, which means Birth to Death; in between are the crossroads, choices, and consequences you will encounter along your journey. It would be best if you did not fail to live by what options you have made and live your life to the fullest.

Hi, thanks for dropping by!

I am a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy Masidtalak Class of 2023. I am also a member of the Alfa Company and the First Battalion Investigation Officer. Just like everybody else, I used to be a civilian who dreamed of becoming a part of the long maroon line.
