Police cadets have a great opportunity to receive practical knowledge and experience in all facets of police work through the Cadet Attachment Program (CAP) of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA). In this instance, cadets assigned at the Tagaytay Component City Police Station had an introduction to the Investigation Section, which plays a crucial role in solving crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice.[1]

The introduction provided the cadets with an overview of the Investigation Section's functions, structure, and new setup. The introduction also highlights the importance of the role of police investigators in gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing information to solve crimes.

The new setup of the Investigation Section, as outlined in Memorandum Circular No. 2005-010, reflects the changing nature of criminal activities and the need for specialized desks to address various crimes, such as crimes against persons, crimes against property, fraud, economic, and cybercrimes, women and children's concerns, and general investigations. Each desk is headed by an eligible desk chief, who is responsible for the efficient and effective investigation of the cases assigned to their desk.

The introduction to the Investigation Section provided the police cadets with insights into the different roles and responsibilities of police investigators. It also highlights the importance of specialized desks in addressing different types of crimes, which require different approaches to investigation and evidence collection. As future police officers, the cadets need to have a good understanding of the investigation process to effectively perform their duties, uphold the law and protect the citizens they serve.

Overall, the introduction to the Investigation Section is an essential part of the CAP, as it provides the cadets with a better understanding of the importance of the investigation in the overall functioning of the police force. The knowledge and experience gained by the cadets during this program will undoubtedly help them to become more effective and efficient police officers in the future who can uphold the law, protect the people, and maintain peace and order in the communities they serve.
