"Clear core values shape culture and empower delegation of authority". — Garth Jestley

Professor Vivian Alvarez Gonzales, Ph. D., labeled as the first woman Commandant Department of Military Science and Tactics at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños and the first ever woman dean of the office of student affairs, graced our seminar. Her motivating address concentrates on values as it will be a lighthouse in achieving Transformational Leadership.

Values are a crucial aspect of being a good police officer. Upholding values such as integrity, respect, and fairness can help officers effectively and ethically serve their community and maintain trust and credibility. Personal and professional values can shape officers' actions and decisions and help guide them in complicated or morally ambiguous situations. Additionally, adhering to values can help ensure that an officer can uphold the law and protect the rights of all community members, regardless of their personal beliefs or biases. It is essential in a society that values diversity and equality, as it allows an officer to serve the community unbiasedly and fairly.

In particular, integrity is a crucial value for police officers because it involves honesty, transparency, and accountability in their actions. Officers must always act with integrity, even when it is difficult or goes against their interests. By doing so, they can build trust and credibility with the community and ensure that they are seen as fair and just.

Respect is another significant value for police officers because it involves treating others with dignity and compassion, regardless of their background or personal characteristics. By showing respect for the community, police officers can foster positive relationships and gain the trust and cooperation of the public. In turn, this can help improve the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts.

Fairness is also a key value for police officers because it involves treating all individuals equally and without bias. Thus, police officers must always act reasonably and unbiasedly, regardless of an individual's race, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics. By doing so, police officers can ensure that the law is applied equally to all community members and help build trust and credibility.

Overall, values play a crucial role in being a good police officer by helping to guide an officer's actions and decisions and by fostering trust and credibility within the community. By upholding fundamental values such as integrity, respect, and fairness, police officers can effectively serve and protect their communities and keep the principles of justice and fairness.

Hi, thanks for dropping by!

I am a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy Masidtalak Class of 2023. I am also a member of the Alfa Company and the First Battalion Investigation Officer. Just like everybody else, I used to be a civilian who dreamed of becoming a part of the long maroon line.
