"Law enforcement must be guardians in our communities, not warriors against our own people." — Cal Cunningham
At about 10:00 PM of January 24, 2023, police cadets from Philippine National Police Academy joined personnel of Tagaytay CCPS, under the direct supervision of PLTCOL Charles Daven M. Capagcuan, OIC Tagaytay Component City Police Station in the conduct Oplan Sita along Emilio Aguinaldo Highway , Brgy. Maiitim II, Tagaytay City.
In line with Anti-criminality and Crime Prevention, Oplan Sita is an efforts in the Philippines that are multifaceted and involve various initiatives, programs and laws implemented by the government and law enforcement agencies. It is an ongoing operation by the Philippine National Police to address the problem of traffic congestion and accidents caused by vehicles that do not comply with traffic rules and regulations. Moreover, it improves the ability to respond to crime, involving the community in crime prevention efforts, and addressing the root causes of crime such as illegal drugs.
Oplan Sita is an essential program in the Philippines that aims to maintain peace and order, prevent and control crimes, and ensure public safety and internal security. It involves the conduct of random checkpoints in strategic locations to check for any violations of traffic rules and regulations, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a license, or reckless driving.[1]
Aside from addressing the problem of traffic congestion and accidents, Oplan Sita also aims to curb criminal activities. Law enforcement agencies conduct inspections of vehicles and their passengers for any illegal items or weapons, as well as to check if the vehicle and its passengers have any pending arrest warrants or are involved in any ongoing criminal investigations.
In addition to law enforcement efforts, Oplan Sita also involves community participation in crime prevention efforts. This includes encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activities or individuals in their area and educating the public on how to avoid becoming victims of crimes.
Overall, the Oplan Sita program is essential in promoting a safer and more secure community for all. It involves a multifaceted approach that includes law enforcement, community participation, and addressing the root causes of crime, such as illegal drugs.
